At the end of October, the project was presented in Trieste also in the form of a book. It all started with the Patricia D. Richards Legacy Award I received last year, which gave me the opportunity to take part in an artistic residency and develop this work. In collaboration with Trieste Photo Days and Edilimpianti Trieste, MATTER looks at the people working behind the transformation of buildings and urban spaces. Rather than focusing on the finished architecture, I wanted to bring attention to the workers, their gestures and the work that often goes unnoticed. A big thanks to Stefano Mirabella, who followed me throughout the residency and helped me develop the project; to Fabio Domenicali for the editing and sequencing of the book; and to Andrea Bettancini for the cover design. Thanks to Trieste Photo Days, Edilimpianti Trieste and Exhibit Around for making this experience possible, and to all the people I met along the way who welcomed me into their work. Finally, a special thanks to Patricia’s family and everyone who continues to support her legacy and make these opportunities possible.
